Welcome to Seattle!
The Seattle Host Committee invites you to the Emerald City! This year's National Planning Conference promises to be one of the most memorable ever. With 200 sessions scheduled, there will be something for everyone's interest-economic development, small town and rural, environment, transportation, telecommunications, technology, and much more. Or, you can get a more "hands-on" feel for planning in the Pacific Northwest by participating in some of the 95 mobile workshops and orientation tours we have planned.
From Skagit Valley tulips in bloom to the rebirth of life on Mount St. Helens, you will have the opportunity to see this beautiful part of America at its very best. You will also get a first-hand view of the enormous complexity of planning issues that we face here every day: growth management, the Endangered Species Act, and balancing complex and competing issues with the sovereign rights of the Native Americans are but a few of the fascinating issues we will explore.
The host committee has worked hard to provide you with an unsurpassed Puget Sound experience. You may like it so much that you'll decide to stay (just kidding, Californians)!
So, come and join us as we approach the millennium. I look forward to welcoming you to Seattle.
Sincerely,
Michael P. Davolio, AICP
