Presidential Honor

InnovationSpace, a transdisciplinary research and development laboratory that brings together students and faculty from industrial design, visual communication design, engineering, and business—as well as partners from industry—was honored with the 2007–2008 President’s Award for Innovation. Medal Health

When MSD student Li Qing Zhou came to ASU, she brought with her some serious credentials, including a 2006 IDEA Gold award for her Touch Messenger. Details+

2006 was the same year Assistant Professor Dosun Shin brought home a Bronze award for the Nutty Buddy, developed by Dosun and Associate Professor Don Herring. Details+

And Dosun did it again this year with his design for the Guardian Safety Seat. Details+

DamClever

The BathDam, designed by Senior Collin Smith, receives an Honorable Mention Award in the International Housewares Association’s 2008 Student Design Competition. Details+

Stuck, But Not in a Rut

Adam Craft, an Industrial Design senior, took home first prize in Velcro’s first-ever Student Design Contest. His illuminated travel chess set won him a $3,000 scholarship and a trip to the Velcro USA, Inc. headquarters. For details +

Teamwork Meets Technology

Ryan Brotman, a recent graduate of the Arts, Media and Engineering master’s program, coauthored a paper for the Education Symposium Track of the 2008 IDSA Polar Opposites conference.
