Welcome to the School of Planning at Arizona State University!
Planning is a professional discipline that deals with making decisions and choosing alternatives that will optimize the opportunities for communities, organizations, and agencies. The explosive growth of the Phoenix metropolitan region and the challenges for developing sustainable, equitable, and satisfying human communities in arid environments makes this an exciting laboratory for learning about planning, exploring new approaches to the issues of community development, and entering the profession. Arizona State University’s grand vision for the New American University enhances the learning opportunities and the value for being in this place.
Award-winning students and faculty with local, national, and international recognition continues to advance the reputation of the school.
The School of Planning is one of 20 charter American Planning Association (APA) programs, which means that all of our faculty are members of the APA. This highly qualified, diverse faculty gives the school its sense of community. We are dedicated to advancing the professional perspective for planning through our programs, our curricula, and our engagement with communities, agencies, and organizations. We complement a professional approach with a strong grounding in theory, methods, and critical problem-solving
The School of Planning has accredited professional bachelor's (BSP) and master's (MUEP) degree programs. The school also participates in a collegewide PhD in environmental planning and design.
